A George V ‘Arts and Crafts’ sterling silver napkin ring, London 1919 by Alwyn Carr

Of triangular form with rope twist rims. The side flat chased with an English rose above two crossed Scottish thistles, the sides chased with ‘Dennis Aitchison Dunlop’ and ‘From His Godfather H.G.A’. Fully marked to the side.

Length – 5.8 cm / 2.25 inches

Weight – 72 grams / 2.31 ozt

Dennis Aitchison Dunlop (1926-1981) was born in Kensington, London on the 28th June 1926. He was the son of Charles Dunlop (1876-1932) and Nora Dunlop-Smith (1891-1979). He joined the Royal Air Force, was awarded the DFC (Distinguished Flying Cross) in 1954 for services in Korea. He ultimately rose to the rank of Squadron Leader before his retirement.
