A QAJAR SILVER AND COPPER QALYAN BOTTLE WITH A STYLISED VERSION OF THE BRITISH CREST
Qajar Iran, late 19th - early 20th century

Of typical inverted pyriform shape, with a thin tapering base rising to a globular body, with a cylindrical neck and everted circular mouth, a small cylindrical spout on the shoulder, the solid silver body decorated with a gadrooned pattern on the base and below the rim, palmette claws in the centre crossing over a central brass section, and six oval cartouches filled with stylised profile bust portraits of Europeans, below the spout a version of the national British coat of arms with a rampant lion and unicorn flanking a shield inscribed in Arabic Allah the Almighty, 25cm high, weight 500gr.
