This eighth volume of The Art-Union journal contains a mounted ‘talbotype’, also known as a ‘calotype’. The painstaking process required each image to be produced separately, every issue containing a unique example. This one depicts a ship’s battery, and has a tissue guard and printed label verso. Page 195 also features an article on “The Application of the Talbotype.”
