TWO SELJUK POTTERY PILGRIM FLASKS
Iran and Anatolia, possibly 12th - 13th century

Comprising a turquoise-glazed Kashan pottery pilgrim flask, of flattened circular shape, with a short cylindrical neck with everted rim flanked by twin rounded handles, 14.4cm x 11.5cm; and an unglazed Anatolian pottery pilgrim flask, of compressed circular shape, resting on a circular foot, the rounded top surface characterised by a slightly upturned cylindrical neck flanked by two loop handles, decorated with concentric bands featuring a six-pointed star at the centre, surrounded by beading motifs, smaller roundels filled with Greek crosses, and rosettes, 12.5cm x 6cm.
