Tbilisi circa 1830
An early 19th century Georgian parcel gilt silver wine ladle (hazarpesche)

The circular bowl with chased decoration centred with a dog attacking a deer, edged with trailing foliage all against a textured ground. The long handle with an applied and riveted scroll section, chased all over with trailing foliage. The terminal with maker’s mark in Georgian Mkhedruli, possibly ესჯ (ESJ).

Length – 34.3 cm / 13.5 inches

Weight – 237 grams / 7.62 ozt

Notes:

A mark with the same initials given a date 1804-32 is illustrated Postnikova 3652 as unidentified.
