Manuscript, Italian.-  Doctorate book, in Italian, entitled ‘Privilegio del Dottorato…’, 3 parts, 16 leaves, mostly on vellum, calligraphic writing in brown ink, with illuminated initials and words, pages ruled in gilt, occasional spotting, marginal stain to one leaf, signatures, stamps and annotations, of members of the academic committee, contemporary straight morocco, slightly rubbed, gilt, upper board bowed, 4to (207 x 156mm), 18th century. ***Describing 3 doctorate graduations at the Archiginnasio della Sapienza in Rome in 1742, 1747 & 1790 (the marquises Lodovico & Carlo Antonio Barbaro, Giovanni Andrea Crispo from Tacco). Carlo Antonio Barbaro (1721-1793) was an antiquarian and wrote an essay on the 1768 archaeological finds in Malta, ‘Degli avanzi d'alcuni antichissimi edifizi scoperti in Malta l'anno 1768’, posthumously published in 1794.
