A Vincennes Sèvres soft paste porcelain bleu céleste 'Corbeille Du Service' pierced basket
Louis XV period, circa 1755

Of shaped octagonal forrm, the sides with elaborate pierced basketwork and anthemions, decorated with a turquoise bleu céleste ground, the central white ground reserve hand painted with flowers and fruits within a gilt wheat husk border, partial overglaze blue interlaced-L mark and incised mark to base.

Believed to be from the Celestial Blue service of Louis XV

Inherited by the vendor from her Mother in 1995, her Mother was of Northern Irish descent.

A similar example was sold in 1995 from the Northern Irish collection of the Duke of Abercorn.

Comparable example: the celebrated bleu céleste service of Louis XV, produced at Vincennes between 1753 and 1755 for the King’s private dining rooms at Versailles. The service, designed by Jean-Claude Duplessis and decorated in the newly invented turquoise ground by Jean Hellot comprised 1,749 pieces including rare openwork fruit baskets (plateaux corbeilles), one of which is preserved at the Château de Versailles.
