Royal Interest, formerly the property of Queen Mary - A Louis XVI French ormolu mounted walnut commode, by Fidelys Schey circa 1785,
the Aleppo Breccia marble top with beaded gilt brass border, fitted with three short over two long drawers, the upper right drawer with interior stamp for 'V.M PRINCESS OF WALES’, the reverse stamped with the initial 'M' below a crown, also with a printed Private Property paper label for Queen Mary, the underside with a typed paper label 'Property of His Majesty King George V, (Heirloom) (Private Property)', the two long drawers with scrolling acanthus and foliate ormolu mounts, the upper centred by a Pan mask, outset fluted three-quarter columns, the sides with ormolu mounts of foliate garlands surmounted by ribbon and crossed torch with quiver, fluted brass mounted borders, most mounts likely 19th century, raised on four later feet, stickers verso for 'KENSINGTON PALACE’ with crowned cipher of Princess Margaret, and 'PRIVATE PROPERTY' with crowned ‘M’ cipher,

Provenance: Drawer stamped for V.M PRINCESS OF WALES - Victoria Mary of Teck (Princess of Wales 1867-1893, later Queen Mary) - also stamped for when she became Queen.
Noted as placed in Queen Mary's private Dining Room, Marlborough House, London.

Sticker verso for KENSINGTON PALACE bearing crowned cipher of Princess Margaret, ‘Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon lived at Kensington Palace with their young family from the 1960s. The couple created fashionable interiors and hosted many parties for celebrity guests, pop stars and artists here.’
