This May, Chiswick Auctions presents a diverse and exciting selection of vintage, modern, and contemporary photography, going under the hammer on 21 May 2026. Central to the sale is a curated selection of British photography from across the 20th century — including iconic works by Martin Parr, definitive Picture Post images from social documentarians Bert Hardy and Thurston Hopkins, luminous landscapes by rambler-photographer Fay Godwin, and a fascinating archive of personal vintage prints from the studio of Dorothy Wilding, Britain's first female royal photographer. The sale also features a wide-array of 20th-century photographs from across the pond, including vintage prints by American landscape masters Edward Weston and Brett Weston, a rare Ansel Adams view of Unicorn Peak, Yosemite, a unique combination print-postcard, hand-annotated and posted by Sally Mann in 1975, and an impressive print of William Klein's 1954 "Gun I, New York", contact sheet, overpainted in 2004 and editioned as an oversized print. Highlights from later in the 20th century include a strong selection of fashion photographs, including works by Terence Donovan, Sarah Moon, Helmut Newton, Patrick Demarchelier, Herb Ritts, and Juergen Teller, among many others.
