Sophie graduated from The University of York in 2022, where she developed a broad knowledge of art, architecture, and design. She completed a BA in History of Art, and an MA in Architectural History & Theory. As part of her MA scholarship award from the Worshipful Company of Arts Scholars, she also received mentorship from antiquarians of Sotheby’s Institute of Art, which sparked her interests in auction house culture and the market and trade of antiquities. Her specialist modules include Art & The Raj: Visual Culture in India 1780-1900, Jerusalem in Western Medieval Art & Architecture, and Medieval Islamic Architecture on the Frontiers.
Prior to joining Chiswick Auctions, Sophie gained experience at an Old Masters dealership based in St. James’s. She also worked as a Gallery Manager for a contemporary gallery, and as part of the research and collections team within York Museum’s Trust. She has a keen interest in architectural studies, as well as Indian painting and visual culture.
