Posledniye novosti

On Tuesday November 25th we will be holding
our inaugural
Russian Sale at 5pm.
It will be preceded by Antiques and Interiors at 12 noon as usual.

Posledniye novosti - that the latest news in Russian, and our latest news is our upcoming inaugural Russian sale.

Across the UK Russian Art Week will be taking place between November 21st - 29th and as one of the newcomers to the market we are joining the bigger houses in having a dedicated Russian sale.

The 155 lots include a wide variety of items ranging from pre-revolutionary to contemporary art, exploring these exciting schools of Russian painting even though they are not yet well known in the West, to some stunning icons.

One of the star lots in the sale will be “Female Bather” by Alexander Samokhvalov, a prolific painter and illustrator who received 2 International Gran Prix for his illustrations of The History of a Town by Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin.

OTHER NEWS

This week, we sadly waved goodbye to our NODDY collection. But the sale went extremely well and we welcomed a tv crew from 5 News on the day, after a good amount of national press coverage.

Two star lots were both original illustration sets by Harmsen Van Der Beek. Lot 51 was a set of 5 front cover book illustrations which achieved £1,000.
And Lot 82 achieved £1,300 for 28 illustrations mounted across 5 boards.

Coming up, we have our last  20th Century Design of 2014 on December 2nd, and Fine Art on December 9th.

The catalogue for the 20th Century Sale is online now and includes some shiny pieces of furniture (Paul Evans) and art (Estuardo Maldonado) that may make the Xmas tinsel look slightly dull this year.

In the Fine Art sale we have exciting Scottish Colourist Finds by Margaret Morris, partner of Scottish Colourist JD Fergusson, which have come to light following research into a local house clearance.
