15/01/2013     Chiswick Curates

The snow held off, the sale was well attended and those that braved the weather got bargains... for us at Chiswick Auctions the day was buoyant. Tom Keane co-owner and Matt Caddick our saleroom manager and jewellery specialist were the auctioneers this week for a sale with 600 lots. There was a fair balance of small items with some fantastic gold and diamond jewellery, the silver cabinets were full in the reception area and the furniture sale that starts at 3pm was the best opportunity for a while to grab some great dining tables, chairs and cabinets all which perhaps could do with a ‘Kirsty Allsop make over!’ and the canny homeowners of Chiswick were in the room buying just for that purpose.

Toms highlight for this week’s lucky buyer has to be “...what about this week’s amazing bargain? Lot 232, A Jacob & Co., diamond set Five Time Zone wristwatch that has the retail price of £31,000 we just sold for £1600 hammer. ..While the good luck story for the happy seller today was lot 48 a late 20th Century Chinese bronze censer bowl estimated at £120 - 220 sold for £800 hammer!”

Matt said “Classic Art Deco design jewellery stands the test of time and competes head to head with modern jewellery this was proven today when lot 4 well exceeded its estimate of £400 – 600 and sold for £940 hammer and gave the buyer the chance to own a unique and timeless piece at a fraction of the cost of contemporary rings.”
