Our Interiors, Homes & Antiques Department has gone from strength to strength, undergoing significant growth in the past two years and now offers a staggering 15 sales a year to our busy auction calendar. To keep up with demand, we are delighted to welcome Paul Fox to the Chiswick Auctions Team in the role of Head of Interiors, Homes & Antiques.

“I am relishing the opportunity to get stuck in here at Chiswick,” said Fox.

“It is an exciting saleroom located in the heart of west London and the Interiors, Homes & Antiques Department is one that is constantly shifting to meet current trends and fashions, and the team here at Chiswick will be working our hardest to ensure that demands are met.”

“We are thrilled to have Paul join us at Chiswick,” said Liz Winnicott, Executive Director and Head of Valuations.

“With over 250 sales under his belt, Paul’s experience provides a welcome addition to our popular and busy Interiors, Homes & Antiques Department, and our talented team.”

Paul joins the team from Sworders, where he headed up the interiors department and developed its fine wine and spirits department.

He first entered the world of art and antiques after completing an HND in Furniture Restoration at the School of Art, Architecture & Design in Aldgate, and then working in a central London art gallery.

As a general valuer, Paul has a vast expertise across different styles and the core collecting categories but if he had to pick a favourite interiors period it would be the Queen Anne period (1702 to 1714).

“It’s a relatively short window of time comprising only twelve years, but the preceding century had seen cabinet making as an art form evolve rapidly - thanks largely to the influence of the Huguenots, who took refuge from Catholic persecution in Protestant Great Britain.”

“At the start of the 18th century, the style of furniture was scaled back to form a more minimalist style of clean lines and simple turning to produce an elegant look that defined the period. Even today, the designs of this period are considered some of the finest ever produced.”

Prior to Paul’s appointment, Liz headed up the Interiors, Homes & Antiques Department. She will continue to lead our Probates, Trusts & Estates department while developing our private collection and house sale offering.
