How do I buy at auction? 

All of our sales are live streamed through our online platform Chiswick Live, meaning you can follow along and bid from the comfort of your own home. We currently offer the following bidding methods:

  • Online Bidding through Chiswick Live with no additional online surcharge
  • Telephone Bidding 
  • Absentee Bidding

How do I view the lots before the sale?

All our sales are fully illustrated online and have been expertly catalogued by our specialists. We recommend you request a condition report via our website prior to the sale.

We continue to offer Viewings by appointments. Please check our auction calendar for Viewing Times and email the relevant department with your preferred viewing times and the lots you would like to view. You will be required to wear a face covering during the viewing appointment.

 

How do I watch and bid on an auction from home? 

Our sales are broadcast via live stream, which can be accessed through our website. To launch the sale online, follow these three easy steps:

  1. Visit chiswickauctions.co.uk/auction-calendar  
  2. Click on the 'View auction' button for the auction you wish to follow
  3. Select 'Watch live' and the live stream will open. The 'Watch live' button will appear on the website approximately 20 minutes before the start of the auction. 

 

Online Bidding:  

Chiswick Live is our online bidding platform that allows you to bid from the comfort of your own home and benefit from our standard buyer’s premium terms without any additional online bidding surcharges. 

Here are some easy steps to get you started with Chiswick Live: 

  1. Select My Account in the navigation menu
  2. Create a Chiswick Live account or login into your account prior to the auction
  3. Select the ‘place bid’ function on your desired lot

 

Telephone and Commission Bids:

We are accepting telephone bids and commision bids on all our sales.You can place a commission bid directly by creating your own personal account on chiswickauctions.co.uk. Alternatively you can request a telephone bid or place a commission bid by sending an email to bids@chiswickauctions.co.uk or calling T:  +44 (0)20 8992 4442. 

 

I was the successful bidder, what happens next?

Congratulations, you had the winning bid, now it's time to arrange payment and collection.

 

Payments

Payments can be made quickly and easily online through our payment platform or via bank transfer. Our Buyers Accounts Department is on hand to answer any question or guide you through the process. Please note, we do not accept American Express.

 

Collections

We will continue to offer a Click and Collect service for purchased lots.The service is contactless, adhering to strict social distancing at our Chiswick Saleroom and can be done personally or via your chosen courier.

To book a Click and Collect appointment or to provide authorisation for your chosen courier/representative to collect your goods, please email collections@chiswickauctions.co.uk quoting your invoice number. Our Collections Team will provide you with a designated collection slot and the required paperwork. 

We are asking clients to pay online prior to arrival to minimise contact and ensure the safety of both our clients and staff. Please be aware if the goods are not paid for before your collection appointment, they will not be released and you will be required to rebook your collection slot after payment has been received. 

Please turn up for your appointment during the designated time slot at the Bollo Lane entrance to our Chiswick Saleroom. Our Collections Team will have your lots ready to go, ensuring a quick and safe collection process.

Storage Fees

CA Ltd offers a discretionary 14 days free storage on purchased and unsold Lots from the date of the sale. Thereafter Lots not collected shall incur storage charges of:

 

  • £5.00 per lot, per day or part thereof for smalls and pictures (defined as anything that can be handled by one person)

  • £10.00 per lot, per day for furniture and other larger lots. 

 

CA Ltd shall be entitled to retain said Lots until all sums due have been paid to CA Ltd. If any lot remains uncollected 21 days after the sale, storage charges shall thereafter be £10/£20 (smalls/larger items) per day and CA Ltd shall, in accordance with the Law, have the right to sell the purchased Lot to recover payment of storage charges outstanding. Any balance proceeds of sale received after payment of all sums outstanding and due to CA Ltd shall be held for the account of the Buyer.
