On the 22nd June we are selling fine books and pictures in a special combined sale.
One of the highlights of the Fine Art Sale, 'An Elegant Lady seated at Villerville Beach' by Ernest Ange Duez 1843-1896. Painted circa 1885" - together with a photograph of the artist and the picture in his studio.
The sale also includes original works of art by: Sir Henry Moore RA, Guiseppe de Nittis, Michael Cockerill RA, Leslie Charles Worth, Ivor Abrahams RA , Augustus John RA, Frederick James Knowles, John Bellany RA and many others.
We are currently welcoming entries for our next specialist sale of Books and Manuscipts on 22 June. The sale already includes some significant consignments: a first edition in English of Machiavelli's The Prince (estimate £7,000-10,000), a stunning 17th-century herbal, Hortus Floridus (£5,000-8,000), a beautifully-bound set of The European Magazine which contains Wordsworth's first published work (£2,000-3,000), a fascinating collection of German World War II maps and booklets produced in preparation for the invasion of Britain (£700-1,000) and a first edition of Anthony Burgess's A Clockwork Orange (£700-1,000).
