Chiswick Auctions Partners with Whizz-Kidz for Charity Auction

Gucci Pink Web Trim Collar Dress

We are delighted to announce a star-studded designer fashion charity auction to support Whizz-Kidz, the leading UK charity supporting young wheelchair users and their families, with their initiative to raise funds to supply children and young adults with wheelchairs.

The auction would not be possible without the donation of 200 items of clothing from Whizz-Kidz supporter, Harriet Green (ex. CEO Thomas of Cook and IBM Far East). Describing herself as ‘part lion, part panda’, Green is best known for being a formidable business woman with a sharp dress sense. Clothing items donated to the charity sale by Harriet Green include a stunning Gucci pink dress, baroque-style Dolce Gabbana suiting and more.

Harriet Green said, “As a long-term supporter of Whizz-Kidz, it’s great to partner with them and donate items from my wardrobe for this fantastic auction. I’ve been fortunate enough to see the brilliant work they do in changing the lives of young wheelchair users first-hand".

This is such a fun event and beyond the best of causes. It will make a huge difference to young disabled people and their families so they can get the life-changing equipment and support they need.”

Alongside Harriet Green’s donation, Whizz-Kidz have been given a number of fashion items from celebrities and public figures including an Erdem ‘Celestina’ dress worn by pop sensation, Kylie Minogue at BFI Southbank event, an orange hat by Child of Jago from the collection of Boy George, and a Vivienne Westwood suit belonging to Theresa May.

The funds raised in this auction will go towards supplying disabled children with life-changing wheelchairs. Whizz-Kidz provides young disabled people with a range of bespoke mobility equipment, free of charge, to give them independence at home, at school and at play. Each chair costs Whizz-Kidz an average of approximately £5,000 including bespoke fitting, and with many charities seeing a reduction in donations due to the pandemic, this auction will raise much-needed funds.

Sarah Pugh, Chief Executive at Whizz-Kidz, said; “Partnering with Chiswick Auctions helped take this exciting event to another level, and by working together we will raise even more vital funds to help us to provide life-changing equipment and support for young wheelchair users. We are immensely grateful to Harriet Green, the celebrities and everyone else that has generously donated such amazing pieces.”

Popsy Kundi, Head of Designer Handbags & Fashion at Chiswick Auctions, commented; "When Whizz-Kidz contacted Chiswick Auctions, we were delighted to offer our expertise to help sell at auction such fabulous pieces and help improve the lives of young wheelchair users across the UK. It’s a real privilege to be able to support Whizz Kidz in the sale to raise money to provide support and transform the lives of disabled children."

The Whizz-Kidz X Chiswick Auctions Charity Sale will take place on Tuesday 30 November at 11am.
