A flaming busy week in June

Next week, on Tuesday 16th June at 12 noon we are holding a sale of Antiquities,
followed by the General sale.
And on Wednesday 17th June we have a sale of Printed Books and Manuscripts at 1pm.




On Tuesday 16th June our inaugural Antiquities sale features lots that will appeal to everyone from serious collectors to beginners, and from the medical community to dog lovers!

Lot 101 is a Greek terracotta figure of Telesphorus, the son of Asklepios, the god of medicine. Telesphorus was worshipped as the god of recovery and end of an illness. From circa 4th Century B.C. the estimate is £300-£500.
In lot 128 we have a Romano-Egyptian terracotta group from circa 1st Century B.C./A.D. estimate: £150-£250. It's an 11cm high mould of two hounds with long hair and pointed ears in the act of mating.
Lot 108 is a Roman terracotta relief fragment, circa 1st Century B.C./A.D. and is estimated at £3,000-£4,000.

The following day, on Wednesday 17th June, our Summer Book Sale will take place.

Whilst there are a number of outstanding classical pieces including; Bertelli, Diversaru nationum habitus, 1594 and an 18th century Iranian Holy Quran, we are particularly excited about Lot 160. It's a large collection of first and early edition books from the Wizard of Oz series including The Road to Oz (Chicago, Reilly & Britton, 1909), The Emerald City of Oz (Chicago, Reilly & Britton, 1910) and The Tin Woodman of Oz (Chicago, Reilly & Lee, 1918). Estimate £400-£600

And in next week's General sale we will be including items from the home of Viscountess Combermere. We will be featuring  paintings, silver and furniture, with other items to follow in future weeks.

This week
 we had a very successful Fine Art sale.

'The Bathers' by Percy William Gibbs that we featured here last week was the star lot achieving a total of £31,200 inc BP. There was a lot of interest across the whole sale and a group that did very well were three pieces by different Czech painters that achieved £16,800 inc BP

Our next Fine Art Sale will be taking place on 6th October.


Coming up
 we still have three more sales before the end of June: the catalogues for Rugs on 23rd June and Historical Documents and Ephemera on 24th June are online already and Militaria on 30th June will follow shortly. The Militaria sale on 30th June will start at 11am.
And in July we will have 20th Century and Contemporary Art and Design on the 7th, Designer Handbags and Fashion on the 14th, Stamps, Coins and Banknotes on the 21st and Jewellery and Watches on the 28th.
