This week is set to be a bumper week of Specialist sales.
On Tuesday 3rd November, Asian Art will start at 11am, followed by The Art of Tea starting at 2pm.
A sale of Canal and River Books will take place on Wednesday 4th November starting at 1pm.
On Tuesday 3rd November we will host two Specialist sales. The day starts at 11am with the Asian Art sale which is particularly strong in the areas of Kangxi porcelain, Chinese later bronzes, textiles, Chinese art reference books, Chinese paintings, mark and period Qianlong porcelain and Tibetan art. Other highlights include Indian and Japanese art from the collection of Michael Michaeledes and Asian art from the collection of Feliks Topolski.
Following this will be our first curated standalone sale, The Art of Tea (starting at 2pm), the sale explores tea drinking material culture of the Far East as well as tea drinking in art, with examples from China, Japan, Tibet and Vietnam. Also included will be teapots, tea cups, tea caddies, kettles, trays, artworks and paintings in a wide range of material including porcelain, lacquer, jade, agate, silver, canton enamel, cloisonné enamel, iron, bronze, tin, pewter, rosewood, burl walnut and bamboo.

The Canals and River Books Sale is taking place on Wednesday 4th November and starts at 1pm. From the private collection of Mark Baldwin, one of the UK’s most prolific canal book collectors, the auction is set to be an industry game changer. The sale includes material from not just the United Kingdom but around the world, with over 1000 items across over 200 lots.

Last week saw the saleroom sparkle during the Jewellery and Watches auction. Period jewellery performed well with Victorian and Art Deco pieces proving popular. This fine French 18ct white gold and diamond set pendant necklace, sold for £5,760 incl Buyer’s Premium.
