Our February Prints and Multiples auction offers a curated collection of contemporary works from Lowry’s iconic market scenes to Banksy’s tongue in cheek screenprints.
We are pleased to represent all areas of printmaking and editions, spanning the spectrum from timeless linocuts to vibrant screenprints, embroidered textile and sculpture. The sale represents various movements of Modern and Contemporary art including Minimalism, The YBAs Neo Expressionism, Street Art and Pop Art with particularly striking works by Patrick Caulfied, Cy Twombly, Gerald Laing, Andy Warhol and Takashi Murakami.
Featured at the heart of the sale are nine rare prints (lots 100-108) from Matisse’s extraordinary Jazz portfolio, showcasing the enduring quality of his iconic pochoirs nearly 80 years after their production. The sale includes icons of British Art- Howard Hodgkin, Craigie Aitchinson, Lucian Freud and Bridget Riley and continues to highlight the work of contemporary Brits with recognisable editions by Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Grayson Perry and David Shrigley.

Auction: Modern British & Irish Art
The winter Modern British & Irish Art auction is one of the company’s strongest to date. It encompasses a wide variety of artworks, starting at the beginning of 20th century right through to modern contemporary.
The auction features a number of important private collections, one such collection offered, includes work by L.S. Lowry, Elisabeth Frink, Keith Vaughan, Duncan Grant, John Bellany and Reg Butler.
The undoubted highlight of the auction is an important and rare 1950s painting by the surrealist Eileen Agar. A Sea Change, was previously in the collection of Lord Sainsbury and was exhibited in her retrospective in 1971, among other notable shows.
Other highlights include unique works by Dame Paula Rego, Kyffin Williams, Eliot Hodgkin, Paul Feiler, John Piper and Henry Moore.

Nevinson and Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec through to contemporary superstars Andy Warhol, Takashi Murakami and Banksy. There is a strong display of 20th Century British printmaking with works from L.S. Lowry, Henry Moore, Francis Bacon, Howard Hodgkin, Peter Blake, David Hockney and Patrick Caulfield to name just a few. The sale features a particularly special private collection of early prints by Tracey Emin demonstrating her excellent print-making prowess through dark woodcuts and delicate monotypes. With lots starting at just £100 there are plenty of works to suit all tastes.

The Modern & Contemporary Prints and Multiples sale at Chiswick Auctions features an impressive array of prints, multiples and limited edition sculptures spanning the 20th and 21st Centuries.
The sale features works from the Estate of Monna Besse, a gallerist who managed the Gallerie Mazarine in Paris. Highlights include two magnificent etchings of Pikes by iconic French surrealist François-Xavier Lalanne. Further works from the collection will be featured in our 8th March 19th and 20th Century Paintings and Works on Paper auction.
