Iran, late 19th - first half 20th century

Ink, pencil, white wash, gold and opaque pigments on paper, two archaistic compositions in vertical format, comprising a tinted drawing of a Sufi sheykh drinking fresh water with his hands, gently poured by an elegantly dressed woman paying respect to the wise man, mounted, framed and glazed, 39cm x 26.8cm; and a tinted drawing of a female musician playing a form of sitar, seated in an idealised landscape, within a border with gilt floral decoration with birds, mounted, framed and glazed, 35.5cm x 24cm.
