Patek Phillipe is synonym of classic, atemporal, traditional and unique watches. Among all the remarkable creations this brand spearheaded (referencing the 130, 530, 533, 592, 1463), the 1579, an evergreen and sought-after model among watch collectors and lovers, is perhaps the only watch with which Patek Philippe dared to play with an unusual design with fanciful lugs in the shape of diamonds briolette, making this model unique in this family.

Due to its innovative design, the model 1579 is often refered among collectors as the "spider lug" chronograph, having one of the most impressive mid-20th-century case designs. It was first released in 1943 at Basel and had been in production until 1964.
