A CHINESE 'FAMILLE ROSE' PORCELAIN BOWL WITH MATCHING SAUCER MADE FOR THE IRANIAN EXPORT MARKET
Guangdong (Canton), China, late 19th - early 20th century

Comprising a bowl, of hemispherical shape, resting on a short circular foot, painted in pink, green, yellow, orange, black and gold on a white ground, the interior decorated with a fully bloomed bouquet of roses in the centre and a typical Canton famille rose border with flowers, fruits and butterflies below the rim encased within two narrow orange lines, the exterior repeating the same decoration of the interior below the rim and with a further decorative register with roosters, butterflies, peonies, vegetal sprays, fruits and vegetables like carrots and grouds, 23.5cm diam.; and a matching circular saucer with a similar decorative arrangement, 27.5cm diam.
