AN EXTREMELY FINE SILK QUM CARPET, CENTRAL PERSIA

Thesoft rust field with delicate scrolling palmette and leafy viner around cusped double florla medallion with pendants containing light yelloow rosette cetrepiece. Invory and yellow florla spandrels. In an indigo border multicoloured serrated palmettes, floral and leafy vine between light beige and ivory flowering vine stripes. Ourter plain stripe, appox: 298cm. x 203cm. Very good example for this type with well dawn design and good colours. This carpet has full pile of veery soft and shiny silk. Extremely fine weave, approx: 10 x 10 knots per sq. cm; woven on silk foundation. Selvages original. Ends with fringes, secured. In general this carpet is in very good usable condition. Attractive and very good furnishing piece.
