A large early 20th century Ceylonese (Sri Lankan) unmarked silver scroll holder, probably Kandy circa 1920
Of cylindrical form with pull off domed cap ends. A vacant oblong cartouche to the centre quartered by four pairs of chased hamsa ducks with intertwined necks, corned with elephants, all against finely deep chased foliate scrolls. Two further plain bands flanked by two circular cartouches to each end chased with a Sinha (lion with sword) Royal emblem of the Kings of Kandy. The end caps with vacant circular cartouches chased with foliate scrolls and foliage.
