A Louis XV French 18 carat gold and lacquer carnet-de-bal (souvenir d'amitié), Paris 1772 by François Delanoy (fl. 1768-1787)

Of tapering rectangular form, with red lacquer body with applied Japanese taka-maki-e lacquer oval panels of flowers, reserved win pierced and chased foliate frames with C scrolls and scallop shells. The hinged lid with pierced and applied SOUVENIR to each side, gold edges to each section. The interior with a gold pivot set pair of ivory aide-mémoire sheaths and a gold pencil holder. Marked to interior section with charge and discharge mark of Julien Alaterre (reg. 1st Oct 1768), date letter I.
