A PAIR OF FRENCH POLYCHROME-PAINTED PORCELAIN FIGURAL SCENT BOTTLES IN THE FORM OF A SULTAN AND SULTANA
Attributable to Jacob Petit, France, mid-19th century

Modelled as a standing Ottoman Sultan and Sultana, both wearing gilt-embroidered flowered robes, colourfully and sumptuously dressed, the top of their turbans with a hole once filled by a stopper now missing, a bulbous vase at their feet to be used as inkwell, the squared bases in the shape of embroidered cushions, the base unmarked, each 34.5cm high.
