A RUBY COPPER-LUSTRE POTTERY CHARGER
Attributed to Ulisse Cantagalli, Florence, Italy, mid to late 19th century

Of typical shallow rounded shape, resting on a short circular foot, rising to a gently everted rim with moulded roundels, the central boss moulded in concentric circles and decorated with a ruby copper-lustre-painted duck surrounded by bands of cobalt blue dotting and copper lustre vegetal motifs, the cavetto with raised petals filled with stylised flowers against a dotted ground, a band of vertical lines around the rim, the exterior with two concentric bands of roundels filled with curly designs, the base marked with a black rooster (maker's stamp), 42cm diam.
