The card is issued to every man leaving my command to return to civil life. The pamphlet is my latest production, I send this copy to you as an old friend and not as a press writer, it will interest you and I know I can  rely on you not to abuse the heading at the top of the cover page. During 1939 he was promoted to Director General of the Territorial Army and retired in 1940.
