An early 20th century Chinese export silver and enamel ice bucket and tongs, Shanghai circa 1930, marked Wen Yu, retailed by Zee Sung
Republic period. Of tapering cylindrical form with a reed and ribbon rim, an incurved opposable swing handle. A lift out draining section. The tongs with claw form grips. The body with flat chased decoration of bamboo reserved against a spot hammered ground, heightened with cold painted green enamel, repeated to the ice tongs. Marked underneath and to the tongs with artisan mark 文娛 (WEN YU), and retailer’s mark ZEESUNG, and SILVER.
