TWO PERSIAN POETRY MANUSCRIPTS: THE KULLIYAT BY SA'DI (D. 1291 -2 AD) AND BOOKS IV - VI OF THE MATHNAWI MA'NAWI BY JALAL AL-DIN RUMI (D. 1273 AD)

Comprising a Kulliyat by Sa'di, Persian manuscript on paper, 386ff. plus two fly-leaves, each folio with 21ll. of black ink on paper, in kitabat shekasteh nasta’liq script, the Golistan and Bustan books in red, blue, and gold rules, the remainder plain, the final section of unattributed prose hazliaat, the colophon inscribed 1234 AH (1818), in green morocco blind-tooled binding, the text panel 23cm x 10.5cm, the folio 29cm x 17.2cm; and Books IV - VI of the Mathnawi Ma'nawi by Jalal Al-Din Rumi, Persian manuscript poetry on paper, 148ff. plus two fly-leaves, each folio with 25ll., in black nasta’liq script, the three opening folios in gold and polychrome illumination, the text arranged in four columns, the chapter headings in red, within red and blue rules, the colophon inscribed 1275 AH (?) (1858) with a dedication, Book IV signed Mohammad Shafi’, with marbled endpapers, in tooled red morocco binding, the text panel 26.5cm x 15cm, the folio 31.5cm x 21.5cm.
