A NORTH-WEST PERSIAN LARGE RUG

The brick-red field with multicoloured memling guls around three stepped and indented medallions, each containing stylised rosettes enclosing stelar flowerhead central panel. In an ivory border of polychrome palmettes and serrated leafy vine between stelar flowerhead panel and floral meandre stripes. Outer plain stripe, approx. 9ft. x 5ft1in.( 274cm x 155cm). Very nicely drawn design and good colour combination, more associated with south Caucasian weaving. this rug has slight wear to the top pile, down to knot collar in places. Small flat reweave areas, and touches of tinting, all well done . salvages original. Ends with short fringes secures. In general good usable condition. Attractive piece.
