FOUR SAFAVID-REVIVAL POTTERY TILES, A WILLIAM DE MORGAN-STYLE POTTERY TILE AND AN HISPANO-MORESQUE-REVIVAL COPPER LUSTRE POTTERY DISH

Each tile of square shape, comprising four in Safavid-revival style, underglaze polychrome-painted in cobalt blue, turquoise, brown, and black, accented with yellow and green, on a white ground, decorated with a six-pointed star, with the Hebrew letters Yod (y) and Vav (v/o/u) in the centre, the star surrounded by a frame of rosettes, each approx. 15.2cm x 15.2cm; a William de Morgan style tile, painted in blue, dark green, turquoise, purple and green, depicting fishes swimming up a river, with rosettes and tulips overhanging the riverbank and springing from reed-like vegetation, the back ridged, 15.3cm x 15.3cm; and an Hispano-Moresque revival dish, of typical rounded shape, resting on a short straight foot, rising to two flattened, opposing cusped handles, a circular cartouche to the centre featuring a bird with its wings spreading against vegetal sprays, a band of floral-inspired sprays to the cavetto and two small holes, solid copper lustre decoration to the rim and handles, the underside painted with concentric bands, 31cm diam.
