AN EXTREMELY FINE SIGNED SILK QUM RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA

The field with delicate scrolling palmette and leafy vine around light rust-red concentric floral medallion with pendants enclosing smaller floral panel and ivory rosette centrepice. Linked spandrels similar. In rust-red border of polychrome palmettes, rosettes and angular leaves between ivory floral meander and reciprocal stripes.Outer plain stripe, approx: 6ft.6in. x 4ft.5in.(198cm. x 135cm.) Emazing quality with full pile of shiny silk. Extremely fine weave, approx: 12 x 11 knots per sq. cm; woven on silk foundation. Both ends and selvages original. Colours are very well blended. in general this rug is in an excellent condition throughout. Elegnt and very attrctive piece. Signature carrtouche ant one end.
