A VERY FINE TEHERAN RUG, NORTH PERSIA

The ivory field with floral and leafy vine around large cusped floral medallion with pendants containing bold polychrome palmettes and floral boteh, enclosing a floral pole medallion issuing meandric arabesques, soft red spandrels similar in an ivory flowering vineborder , between a shadded green-blue serrated palmette and leaf stripes. Outer plain stripe, approx. 223cmx146cm. Very good type with beautifully drawn design and very good colours, this rug has slight wear to the top pile, down to knot collar in places. Salvages original, slightly fraying on cord. Ends with very short fringes, seccured. Very fine weave approx. 8x7 knots per sq.cm. This rug would benefit from light pile cleaning to refresh the colours. In general, this rug is in good usable condition. Very attractive and elegant piece.

Estimated at £600 - £800
