A GROUP OF HISPANO-MORESQUE COPPER LUSTRE-PAINTED POTTERY VESSELS
Post-Nasrid Spain, 17th - 19th century

Comprising two chargers, of typical shallow rounded shape with concave bases and central convex hemispherical bosses, rising to flat everted rims, the white-ground bodies painted in ruby and golden copper lustre, the decoration comprising geometric patterns and stylised vegetal meanderings with fleshy foliage and scrolling trellis, the largest 40cm diam.; a ruby copper lustre small dish, painted with a bird in the centre amidst scrolling vegetal trellis spraying onto the rim as well, the back with stylised oval roundels, 21cm diam; and a similar small bowl, resting on a flat circular base, the rim enhanced with two cusped flanges acting as handles, the decoration including a solar starburst to the centre and spiralling fish-scale motif to the cavetto, 13.5cm diam.
