A FINE MID 19TH CENTURY FRENCH GILT BRONZE AND MARBLE FIGURAL MANTEL CLOCK, CIRCA 1855, in the Louis XVI style, the white marble drum case flanked by ormolu figures of a man writing and a lady reading after Louis-Simon Boizot (French, 1743-1809) representing L'Etude and La Philosophie, raised on a plinth base with gilt bronze foliate mounts, the beaded gilt bezel enclosing the white enamelled dial with Roman numerals and pierced gilt hands, the twin train movement striking on a bell, the backplate stamped 'VINCENTI & CIE MEDAILLE D'OR 1855' and with retailers stamp for Richard & Cie, with pendulum,
