An early 20th century Chinese export silver mug, Shanghai circa 1920, marked An Chang of Canton and Shanghai
Republic period. Of tapering cylindrical form with moulded rims, the handle modelled as a branch, the body with chased decoration of chrysanthemums, against a matted ground. The front with a shield shape cartouche engraved with a presentation inscription in Dutch for a 25th wedding anniversary reading “Dan D. Laksamana aan H. en M. Hesselaar 25 Huwelijksfeest”. Double skinned interior, gilt. Marked underneath with artisan mark 安昌 (AN CHANG) only.
