A VERY FINE HAJI-JALILI TABRIZ RUG, NORTHWEST PERSIA

The light beige field with meandering palmette and leafy vine around cusped pale apricot floral medallion with pendants, containing a floral centrepiece. Pale aqua-blue floral spandrels. In a light apricot border of bold palmettes and tree motifs between palmettes and arrowhead stripes, approx: 190cm. x 144cm. Very good type seldom found in the sales. Soft colours and well drawn design. This rug has slight localised wear to the top pile visible on closer inspection. Selvages original with touches of fraying on the wool cord. Ends with short fringes secured. Very fine weave, approx: 8 x 8 knots per sq. cm. In general this rug is in very good useable condition. Attractive and a good furnishing piece.
