A mid-20th century Thai unmarked silver jardinière, Chiang Mai circa 1960
of rounded oval form upon an oval collet foot, an everted scalloped rim leading to twin handles formed as elephant heads with headdresses. The body with embossed decoration in the Burmese style of figures, some sitting on a dias, also with a Kinnara, each separated between trees and foliage, all against a fish scale pattern ground and stippling. The lower section with a chased band of foliate scrolls above a band of stylised acanthus leaves. Fitted with a pull-out tin liner with ring pull handle.
