A FINE KASHAN CARPET, CENTRAL PERSIA

The ivory field with an overall design of scrolling Arabesques and meandering floral leafy vine, linking bold multicoloured floral Arabesque palmettes, and open Arabesque spandrels, in a light beige border of polychrome palmettes, serrated leaves and delicate floral meander, between triple flowering vine stripes. Outer plain stripe. Approx. 372cm x 269cm. Condition: Beautifully designed carpet with very good colour combination and very well drawn motifs. This carpet has touches of very light wear to the top pile in a few small places, barely visible. A few very small areas of slight discolouration to the pile (possibly improved with light cleaning subject to a professional quote). Ends with original fringes. Selvages original. Fine weave 7 x 7 knots per sq. cm. In general very good useable condition throughout. A great furnishing piece. Attractive.
