AN EXTREMELY FINE SILK QUM RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA

The medium blue field with large concentric multicoloured floral and arabesque medallion with pendants issuing stylised open palmettes. Inner open similar floral frame. All surrounded by multicoloured border of palmettes, leafy sprays and delicate floral tenerils between light beige floral and arabesque stripes. Outer plain stripe, approx; 4ft.9in. x 3ft.4in.(145cm. x 102cm.) Very good example for this type with nicely drawn design and good colour combination. This rug has full pile of soft and lustrous silk. Ends and selvages original. Tiny few dot like dirt marks on the top end pile, barely visible. Extremely fine weave, approx: 11 x 10 knots per sq. cm; woven on silk foundation. In general this rug is in very good condition. Elegant and attractive piece.
