1992 Château Chasse Spleen:

View: purple.

Nose: notes of cassis, red berries and dark chocolate.

Mouth: profound, structured, very spicy, soft tannins.(Drinks&Co) Chateau Méaume 1996: Majestic have had this wine matured at the Château since bottling in 1998. A blend of 80% Merlot and 10% each of Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon, it has a deal of leathery red fruit on the nose, notes of cedar and dry, dusty character. The palate is also very dry and seems to offer insufficient fruit.(Tom Cannavan, 01/2001) Chateau Haut Lavallade 1996: Bright, focused berry fruit. Blackberries and damsons, but light and creamy. Palate is dry and savoury and although there's good balance, the fruit is a little disappointing. Another that might be a little dumb and could come round. (Tom Cannavan, 01/1999) Chateau Ségur de Cabanac 1993: A fantastic bottle for the price. From a not-so-known property in a less than hyped vintage, we're fortunate enough to get a wine that's perfect for the drinkers, not the investors. Those of us who buy wine with the intent to drink and not make money love wines like this. Segur de Cabanac's vineyards are strategically located next to Cos d'Estournel, Calon Segur, and Montrose. It's a big, rich, full-bodied red with structure and balance for the future, but tasting great right now. A winner.(KLwines) Chateau Pavillon de Figeac 1995: Strong ruby garnet, delicately undermarked, discreet water edge. In the nose fresh heart cherries, delicate cranberries, a hint of mint and menthol, attractive bouquet. Juicy, some cassis, good complexity, ripe tannins, dark berry confit, fine ethereal nuances, sticks well, has maturity potential.(Falstaff, 02/2012) Chateau la Tour Blanche 1989: The colour is a lovely burnished gold, but no sign of browning. Quite closed at first, the nose needs a little coaxing but begins to reveal lovely Botrytis character with a little earthy note, dried apricot, some fig and tobacco richness coming through. On the palate the wine is luxuriously full-bodied and voluminous, a rich glycerine coating the mouth and masses of pithy lemon and grapefruit adding a formidable core of structure. The weight of Botrytis and honeyed fruit is immense, in a wine that I suspect is a decade or more off its best. Outstanding stuff. (Tom Cannavan, 01/2011)
