AN ALABASTER SUMERIAN HEAD Circa 2200 B.C. The upper part of the head surviving, depicted bald, with prominent ears and almond-shaped eyes recessed for inlay, surmounted by the brow indicated by a continuous incised line, 4.7cm high. Provenance: Collection Mariaud de Serres; Ex Drouot, Francois de Ricqles, 29 & 30 September, 1997; French private collection.
