A CARVED STONE HEAD, POSSIBLY VISHNU.

Pre-Khmer, 7th Century.

The gently smiling face with calm expression and long earlobes beneath a neatly trimmed hair covered with a tall cylindrical hat, the stone of even grey colour and unsmooth surface, raised on a modern wood stand, 18cm H.

Provenance: deaccessioned from the Iowa Museum of Art.
