Document signed ('George R'), as King, at the head, addressed to the Duke of Norfolk, Earl Marshal, being a Licence allowing that Sir Francis Buller Yarde and his issue may take and use the surname of Buller in addition to that of Yarde, stating, in part, "Whereas Sir Francis Buller Yarde of Churston Court in the County of Devon Bart, only son and heir of Sir Francis Buller Bart deceased, late one of the Judges of Our Court of Common Pleas, hath by his Petition humbly represented unto Us that in conformity to the directions contained in the will of John Yarde of Churston Court….deceased, the Petitioner hath, for several years past, assumed the surname and Arms of Yarde, but the Petitioner out of great respect to the memory of his said late Father, is desirous of adding the surname of Buller to that of Yarde. The Petitioner therefore most humbly prays Our Royal Licence and authority that he and his issue may take and use the surname of Buller in addition to that of Yarde. Know Ye that We of our Princely Grace and Special Favour have given and granted and by these Presents do give and grant unto him the said Sir Francis Buller Yarde Our Royal Licence and authority……", countersigned at the foot by the Duke of Portland (1738-1809) as British Prime Minister, with integral leaf and a blind embossed paper seal affixed, two pages, folio, Court at Saint James’s, 26th June 1800.
