A SINO-TIBETAN GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF MAITREYA

Sino-Tibetan, 18th Century

Standing on a lotus base, his hands at chest level arranged in dharmachakra mudra evoking teaching, flanked by a lotus blossom at each shoulder bearing his attributes: a wheel of chakra, the symbol of Buddha's first sermon and a ritual vessel kundika, bejewelled with beaded necklaces, large earrigns suspended from pendulous earlobes and a leafy tiara over the blue cold-painted hair arranged in a tall topknot, the consecration plate in place,

13.4cm high, 288g.
