A COMMEMORATIVE CABINET PLATE MARKED 'BYRON’S GALLERY' England, 19th century  The interior decorated with a black transfer print on white ground portraying a young woman and a man dressed in Oriental fashion exchanging a tender embrace on a terrace or loggia, the background consisting of a mountainous landscape and a Middle Eastern-inspired group of buildings, the scene framed by decorative motifs of leaves, flowers, cartouches, pearls and twirls, the rim scalloped and printed in blue and a decorative frieze running around the rim, the base white with a small print of a lyre, wreath and cartouche bearing the words 'BYRON GALLERY' accompanied by the inscription 'Bride of Abydos' in cursive letters, 26cm diam.
