Arabic and Persian manuscripts on paper, comprising a quote in Arabic from the Shi'a Imam Ali, 11ll. of black ink naskh script to the folio, written in chalipa diagonal format, signed by the calligrapher Ahmad Shamlu, dated 1236 AH (1820 - 21), set within gold and black rules, within pink and turquoise paper borders, mounted, framed and glazed, the text panel 12.5cm x 6.2cm, 31cm x 25.8cm including the frame; and a ‘sample’ official letter in Persian, 5ll. to the folio of semi-shikasteh nasta’liq script in black ink, signed by the same calligrapher, Ahmad Shamlu, dated 1249 AH (1833), set in a grey and green paper border, laid on pale orange board, mounted, framed and glazed, the text panel 15.6cm x 10.5cm, 40.3cm x 29cm including the frame.
