A VERY FINE SILK QUM RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA

The sandy-beige field with delicsted scrolling lafy vine around rust shaped medallion containing serrated palmettes, scrolling leaves and floral bouquest enclosing floral centrepiece..Spandrels similar. In rust border of multicoloured radiating rosettes and scrolling leaves between arabesque and reciprocal stripes. Outer plain stripe, approx: 6ft.5in. x 4ft.4in.(196cm. x 132cm.) Very good example for this type. This rug has full pile, shinly and lustrous slik. Very good colour combination and nicely drawn design. Very fine weave, approx; 9 x 9 knots per sq. cm; woven on silk foundation. Ends with original fringes. Selvages also original. In general this rug is in an excellent condition throughout. Attractive piece.
