TWO SIGNED PANELS OF NASTA’LIQ MASHQ CALLIGRAPHY
Late Qajar Iran, early 20th century

Persian manuscripts on buff paper, comprising a panel with diagonal lines of bold mashq script, dots absent, dated in the main pen ‘the month of Muharram’, signed and dated in a finer pen Moshir al-Saltaneh, 1323 AH (March 1905 AD), set within concentric red, purple, and green borders, in a modern purple mount, framed and glazed, the text panel 20.5cm x 11.5cm, 32.5cm x 24.5cm including the frame; and another similar, in a lower daang (proportion of the thickness of letters to the script’s dots), signed Faqir Abdul Karim, within a pink border, in a gilt and bevelled mount, framed and glazed, 21.7cm x 8cm, 45cm x 29.5cm including the frame.
